Acer TravelMate P6 has a unique design, as it is made of magnesium alloy and has a reasonably sturdy base.
But what bothered me a little was that the black metal was dull,
The edges of the screen were very wide and there were no neat touches,
as Dell and Apple devices had better build quality as well.
MIL-STD-810G is certified for high and low temperatures, drops, vibration, turbulence and humidity, so it is very suitable for business.
It’s also lightweight for business notebooks, weighing about 2.4 lbs (1.1 kg).
It also has good dimensions of 16 x 325 x 230mm (H x W x D), being lightweight and relatively compact.
Keyboard and Touchpad
As for the Acer TravelMate P6 keyboard, it is good and reasonable.
The Acer buttons are characterized by their fast, smooth,
and consistent movement, and it is characterized by softness, so you will feel more fragile when you use it.
It also contains a double-rise return key and two separate keys, namely Page Up and Down.
As for the trackpad from Acer, it is also of medium quality,
but it is good for normal daily use and you will not feel any inconvenience, and it has sponge buttons.
In terms of ports, Acer TravelMate P6 has a single USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port, and it also supports DisplayPort, Thunderbolt 3 and charging.
There are two full-size USB 3.2 Gen 1 connectors with slower transfer speeds,
and there’s an audio jack, Kensington lock slot, and microSD card reader.
And the HDMI 2.0 port supports 4K output at higher frame rates than the more popular HDMI 1.4 standard.
In terms of our battery life test, the Acer lasted for a little over ten hours,
and when playing the Gone Girl movie, the battery lasted for about fourteen hours, which is impressive and wonderful by all accounts.
And if you reduce screen brightness, and keep apps lit, the battery will last longer.
Acer devices are fast enough to handle daily computing, they have a smooth and responsive performance when switching between different Office applications and also when web browsers with loading tabs.
Acer features Nvidia GPU, but don’t expect much, because Acer used the weaker version of the MX250, which only has 2GB of memory.
As for the screen, the 14-inch Acer touch screen has a resolution of 1080p, which is very suitable for everyday work.
As it has a good screen, it has good angles and visibility.
And when we tested we found the contrast ratio of 1,374: 1, which is good enough to provide great depth in dark areas.
The Delta E of 2.48 degrees is reasonable and the color temperature of 6717 K is also great – so the colors are accurate, even though the device is not that bright.
As for the color gamut, the screen only provided 92.3% of the sRGB color gamut and 67.7% of the Adobe RGB color space.
The webcam has a resolution of 1080p, it is of good quality and has a privacy shutter and infrared support.
As for the speakers from Acer, they are characterized by a very decent level of sound, the medium range is relatively crisp, the bass is almost non-existent, and the upper end is small. It is suitable for occasional media use only.
Buy it for
Acer TravelMate P6 is characterized by many characteristics and features that make it well suited to the work environment, as it has great internal and external communication.
As for battery life, the test counted: Acer TravelMate P6 lasted for ten hours during the ergonomics test, and it lasted approximately fourteen hours when playing a movie.
As it can last for two days if used carefully, as it has a wonderful battery in all sizes.
You want decent performance, battery life, and features without spending a lot of money
It’s also not overpriced, so TravelMate costs $ 1,399, given the features and long battery life, and no more expensive competitor offers this long life and versatility.
Don’t buy it for
Although Acer TravelMate P6 design is strong and durable, but it does not look particularly elegant and the quality of its construction is somewhat modest, as we said, it is wonderful in various office uses.
For me, the Acer Core i7 processor is very well suited for the mainstream everyday work tasks, but some competitors offer much more power for just little money.
As for the keyboard, it is good, but not as ideal in use as the rest of the competitors, and also the trackpad is of medium quality.
