Corsair products are well known when it comes to keyboards, whether mechanical or wireless gaming keyboards.

The company released the Corsair K65 RGB Mini keyboard, which is the company’s first 60% mechanical gaming keyboard, for all intents and purposes.

It is an impressive peripheral device that any gamer can be proud to own, and is also very suitable for people who want to have a keyboard that fits perfectly on a desk without taking up too much space.

It also offers prominent features and is ideal for players who travel a lot, only we find that its price is high considering that those used for certain keys can choose a cheaper Corsair keyboard with the same functions and more keys.

The Corsair K65 RGB Mini keyboard comes at CORSAIR for 129.99 euros, and is Corsair’s first mechanical mini-gaming keyboard.

Its retail price is $ 109.99 or £ 109.99, and Cherry MX Speed, Cherry MX Silent and Cherry MX RGB Red switches are available.

Compact design with dynamic RGB backlight effects

As for the design of the keyboard, Corsair K65 RGB Mini, it has a small design, and this explains the name of the company Corsair on the K65 “Mini”, it is considered the smallest keyboard without keys in the market.

You can clip the keyboard tightly around its alphanumeric keys, and you get the K65.

The Corsair K65 RGB Mini is a no-frills design, but despite that it has a sleek, sleek look thanks to the simple rectangular design and matte black finish.

It is the keyboard that you can easily take out from your bag, connect it to your laptop and start playing with ease.

It makes up for the sacrifice of functionality and arrow keys by assigning shortcuts to different keycaps, which are located on the front sides of each cover.

One of the really cool things is the dynamic RGB backlight effects for each key, and this is something Corsair is known for, as they do an excellent job lighting their keyboards in different colors and patterns.

It has a new and interchangeable “radiant space bar” key, which provides more RGB backlight effects, and there is also a regular space bar to replace it with, in addition to an interchangeable pirate ship logo ESC keycap just for an extra touch of customization.

As for the ports, the Corsair K65 RGB Mini is the first Corsair keyboard to use a detachable USB Type-C to USB Type-A cable,

which is great for travel, and it also gives users the option to swap the cable for a longer one.

Corsair K65 RGB Mini also supports Windows 10 and macOS.

Features: Cherry MX RGB Red Switches are ideal for gamers

The Corsair K65 RGB Mini has Cherry MX RGB Red switches, which are linear style switches for fast tapping, are ideal for gamers, but are far superior to any keyboard on a laptop.

When using the Corsair K65 RGB Mini, we found it a bit annoying at first, due to the fact that the switches use dual-shot PBT keycaps, have 45g operating power and 2mm operating distance.

But such is the case with any new keyboard, the K65 RGB Mini does take some time to get use to.

When I put my writing to the test with 10fastfingers.com, I first got 50 words per minute, and after spending a few more days with the keyboard, it reached my 71 wpm standard.

The Corsair K65 RGB Mini has an impressive and compact design. Its small size eliminates the Delete and arrow keys, something that many had instilled into your regular workday typing habits.

But each key is available through shortcuts via the function key, and there are macro keys to lock the Windows key when playing, change the brightness of the keyboard backlight, or adjust the volume.

The Corsair K65 RGB Mini switches use an excessive polling rate of 8000Hz, which is a measure of how frequently hardware reports are made to connected computers, and that’s already more than enough for professional gamers.

Software: iCUE

Corsair K65 RGB Mini Keyboard offers iCUE software, which is very simple like most other Corsair game peripherals,

for example you can use iCUE to program some delightful complex patterns on the beautiful illuminated keys,

and you can always direct and name the rainbow wave daily.

Through the iCUE program, you can also reprogram the keys, which is very important if you want to play at a high level.

It is easy to remap the keys if you choose to create unique profiles for all your favorite games and applications.

But we noticed an issue during the tests related to hardware profiles, but you don’t have to program the K65 RGB Mini with iCUE;

You can adjust lighting, record macros, and create profiles directly from the keyboard itself.

The problem arises when storing up to 50 personal files, I found that the process was more problematic than it was worth.

Impressive Performance

As for performance, the Corsair K65 RGB Mini works beautifully in most games thanks to its pirate proportions and cherry consistency.

Upon tests I was particularly pleased with the way the Corsair K65 RGB Mini handled its Doom Eternal gameplay,

as the performance was fast and impressive, and FPS games generally required very few keys,

so not having to deal with a full-size model helped make the action that The screen appears more accurate and instantaneous.

I also played Final Fantasy XIV, and this game required a lot of button commands across the entire keyboard, and having to learn shortcuts slowed down my skill rotation and generally felt much less convenient than having a full size model.

But overall the Corsair K65 RGB Mini works beautifully, just whenever I needed the arrow keys or the function keys, I had to search for shortcuts instead of just pressing them.

Conclusion

in conclusion the Corsair K65 RGB Mini Keyboard is not the best mini gaming keyboard I have reviewed, it does have a lot of charms, including its powerful RGB lighting and its great looks.

The presence of Cherry MX toggle switches also raises the entire product.

The Corsair K65 RGB Mini is perfect for you if you want a small keyboard – or this mini keyboard especially.

There are some similar alternatives, for example HyperX Alloy Origins 60 is more straightforward, and the default key mapping is much better.
