Fujifilm Instax SQ1 Instant Square Format Cameras are ideal for taking faraway photos without thinking about shooting modes, but they are even more affordable compared to their previous release.
Just a Glance
The Fujifilm Instax SQ1 is a good camera and a new middle ground in the instant camera range, it is the simplest and most affordable model, but these cameras may limit you to the Instax Mini.
The Fujifilm Instax SQ1 camera allows for fun rectangular photos, but if you are looking for the best then the more expensive Fujifilm Instax SQ6 and its Instax Square film offer a more authentic retro experience.
The Instax SQ1 camera combines the ease of use of the basic Fuji models with a larger square film.
And in each 86 x 72 mm (3.4 x 2.8 in) print, the camera has 62 x 62 mm (2.4 x 2.4 inches) image area, with ten packets.
Initially Instax Square was only available as color film, but now Fuji is finally offering a monochrome option. It features rainbow colored frame packages that complement the expanded assortment.
- Simplicity of directing and shooting
- The square photos are a good size
- Provides powerful and lifelike shots
- There are no advanced shooting modes
- There is no tripod
- Non-rechargeable batteries

We do have the auto exposure light sensor as well as the flash light sensor.
we do have the flash on the left side and, again, the beautiful thing is that it’s so simple.
This camera really takes away all the technical stuff. you only have one button, and it’s the shutter button.
so the auto exposure feature will really help you to have brighter and clearer prints day or night.
so you don’t need to worry, just point and shoot. and there you go; you just made a memory or piece of art.
Now I think it’s a good segue to introduce you to the new square films that are available, the rainbow film monochrome (personally my favourite) .
and a dual pack of the Instax square film. so we are going to load,
so simply open up the back of the camera, take the film, drop it in there, close it,
and then first you’re gonna have to press the shutter button once to eject the protective card.

the design of the camera, it’s very simple, very streamlined, which i do like.
so the Instax square SQ1 is fully analog, so that means every picture you’re going to take, there’s not going to be two of the same.
Now the way you turn it on is by simply rotating the lens, and as you can see, we have an LED indicator.
when it’s flashing, it means that the flash is actually recharging, when you go solid, it means it’s ready to fire.
so now we’re on the topic of the lens, when you rotate it, it just turns on as you can see, you have the on position, but if you rotate it once more you go into the selfie mode.
so that way you can do selfies at arm’s length from 30 to 50 centimeters.
that will also allow you to take close up pictures as well.
Now looking around the camera we can see that we have a selfie mirror in the front.
One of the things I didn’t like about the Instax SQ1 was that it offered pastel-like colors mixed with darker shades, as it provided exaggerated highlights.
The SQ1 fixed focus lens is best suited for portraits and medium and close-range subjects such as photographing a person near landscapes as it makes the picture smoother, but it is important to remember to turn the lens back so that longer shots do not appear blurry and out of focus.
The Instax SQ1 camera has a nice and useful feature for beginners and it offers greater options when it comes to choosing the first camera, as it could be a turnaround for more creative photographers, but it also still delivers very powerful and dazzling images with the brand charm we expect from the moment.
But it for
The Instax Square SQ1 is as simple as most instant cameras, as it does not contain additional controls to confuse novice users.
The Instax SQ1 is also one of the most affordable instant cameras. Besides it contains the affordable Instax Square film, Instax film is also available in smaller and larger Mini format in addition to Square, which is a great starting point.
Don’t buy it for
The Instax camera lacks creativity in photography, as there are cameras with shooting modes such as double exposure and useful extras like a tripod thread.
The Instax SQ1 is simply affordable and affordable, so it has a simple design with an all-plastic body, and this is unlike the more expensive Instax cameras, with high-quality materials.
The SQ1 camera lacks autofocus, which in turn makes it difficult to take sharp pictures, so if you are not ready to experiment and accept that some of your shots may be somewhat blurry, this camera is not for you.
