Humax FVP-5000T Design
FVP-5000T offers a somewhat different and elegant design, it comes with rounded edges, has a small shiny black spotted front and some basic operational buttons on top.
It is fanless design so no annoying noise, unlike some disc noise, it is very quiet to operate and airy as well.
Humax FVP-5000T Remote Control
Although it improved from 4000T, the remote control is still disappointing. This is despite its lightweight, but it’s not easy to use at all.
It has cheap and quality plastic navigation buttons, but there is a positive side, the remote has a well-arranged button map.
It also has some colorful buttons that stand out from the rest and that will take you directly to some of the highlights of FVP-5000T It’s Netflix, the page that contains bundled features from the main catch-up services and the Freeview Play home page.
OS and Menus
We have worked on some improvements in the device Note is the speed of downloading channel logos (EPG) to the point where it is close to the moment as needed
EPG provides a seven-channel display with clear, easy-to-read text and eye-catching gray background.
You can change the EPG screen to display only TV, radio or HD channels from the remote control, which is very good.
It is also shown by user type, with options including children, drama, entertainment, movies, news and sports.
When watching a live TV broadcast, you can press the “OK” button on the remote control to display a banner at the bottom of the screen displaying current program information.
You can also swipe up, down, left or right on the banner to see content details from other channels.
Pressing “OK” again displays a full screen containing detailed program information. It then provides this option to record the program or series, or set a reminder to watch later when catching up.
Humax FVP-5000T Connection
There are many ports and most connections on the back of the FVP-5000T as it consists of an HDMI port, an integrated Ethernet connection, Wi-Fi connectivity, a Toslink digital audio output and a pair of stereoscopes to use with composite video output.
but you really want to avoid the composite in favor of HDMI, because you will not get high resolution from this old connection.
There are also two USB ports, one on the back, above the HDMI out, and the other on the right side of the TV.
Of course, there is also an antenna connection station and an RF outlet to repeat the signal to another device – usually a TV set.
If we will talk about program recording as we would expect from Humax, the FVP-5000T is very strong in its core competence in recording programs very reliably.
It has the ability to set manual timers, adjust existing timers, and the most important feature is the option to set global “space” for recordings.
You can start the events to start up to 20 minutes before the scheduled start date and add them twenty minutes to the end.
According to Humax, a nice feature is that it allows recording to up to four channels depending on the multiplex you are working on – while watching another channel.
Surprisingly, it is actually possible to record five if you set a temporary reservation for a program and then press the manual registration button on that,
but we cannot think of many cases (that is?) Where there will be this number of programs that you want to see that are broadcast on Freeview in one time.
As a very brief explanation, Freeview channels are grouped into what is known as multiplex (mux) and there are seven, in all, to cover each.
When you switch to a channel on a specific pistol, all data for all the channels on it is sent to the box but you only see the channel that you select.
But FVP-5000T is able to record data for two channels per multiplex, so with three tuners at the disposal of the device, Humax can record two channels on each of the first two tuners while viewing / recording another channel in the third.
By swiping the channel to BBC One to watch Escape to the Country, FVP-5000T proposes changing to Full HD.
Clicking OK will immediately take you to HD broadcasts, as the digital box provides a high-quality picture.
The color quality is natural, pure and dazzling, providing you with the finest details on wood panels and stone walls, making your eyes look cheerful.
FVP-5000T and HDR-2000T have similar images – satisfactory, especially if you haven’t yet upgraded your TV to 4K.
There are a few audio quality complaints, Humax is doing well for Taylor Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do on 4Music as we expected. They are lively, definitely perforating and enjoyable.
Older TV FVP-5000T Gives You More Shine, Humax’s last digital box should be something to consider.
The Humax FVP-5000T is probably the best Freeview Recorder we’ve seen so comes Highly Recommended.
