If you appreciate the general aesthetics of setting up games or just want to show off during video calls, this is the mic for you.
We love the HyperX QuadCast S’s sound, reliable build quality, and features like the click-to-mute button, built-in bumper and pop filter.
At $ 159 HyperX, the HyperX QuadCast S is about $ 30 more expensive than its main competitor, the Blue Yeti.
HyperX Quadcast S is a bit like a more expensive HyperX Quadcast (the original model).
For example, QuadCast S has a dynamic RGB color scheme, while QuadCast glows only in red. QuadCast S also supports Ngenuity.
The QuadCast is also connect via microUSB while QuadCast S is connect via USB-C.
- Great sound quality
- Reliable metal construction
- Built-in shock mount and pop filter
- RGB lighting is customizable
- Relatively expensive
- Little difference to the cheaper HyperX QuadCast
Design: Stylish and colorful
The HyperX QuadCast S is a fun and stylish USB microphone that comes with rainbow LED lights that color the microphone below its grille.
The microphone is generally long and cylindrical, and it has a fully durable metal shell, but the USB connection is not as durable as the XLR connection, nor does it provide the same sound quality, but it is generally much easier to use and shouldn’t be a problem for anyone except for the most extreme audio enthusiast.
HyperX QuadCast S also comes with a layer of foam and acts as a pop filter behind the grid, which works just as it did with the original HyperX QuadCast.
And that the microphone itself is fix with screws install on the shock holder, which prevents dealing with external noise
and vibrations in order not to affect the recording, but unfortunately you cannot remove it from the shock holder, as it lacks the possibility of transmission.
But that’s not a big problem, as it’s generally a gaming microphone, and thus it’s usually found on your desk, and it also has a microphone stand adapter, so you can mount it on a boom microphone for more flexibility.
The bottom of the HyperX QuadCast S has a matte dial so you can adjust the gain, and the top features a touch-sensitive mute button.
When the microphone is muted, the LEDs turn off.
The back of the microphone has a USB-C port for connecting a 3-meter USB-C cable to the USB,
and above the USB-C entrance there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack, so you can watch the recording or broadcast live directly.

Features: Compatibility, Ngenuity Software
In general, the HyperX QuadCast S microphone is a plug-and-play device, as it comes compatible with PC, PS4 and Mac computers.
It works with any platform that uses a microphone input, but the Ngenuity software should only be available on your computer.
The HyperX QuadCast S has a dial on the back that allows you to switch between the four available polar modes, including cardioid, bidirectional, omni-directional, and stereo.
These settings are useful for different types of recording. For example, if you are interviewing someone sitting directly opposite you, a two-way setup would be a perfect fit.
As for recording a podcast with just your voice, the cardioid setting is just right for you.
The HyperX QuadCast S has a good pop filter, but it’s not perfect, so for example if you’re talking to your microphone from a distance closer than one foot, the plosives (p-, t-, k-sounds) and fricatives (f- and th-sounds) It would become a problem.
The HyperX QuadCast S comes with Ngenuity software, which provides you with endless color options.
If you have a computer, you can download gaming microphone software, but this isn’t available on macOS, but PC owners can customize the HyperX QuadCast S lighting effects.
However, it should be noted that in order to install the program, your computer must be registered with a Microsoft account.
In general, the program allows you to do other things like adjust the volume, monitor the headphone volume, and indicate the polar pattern that has been selected.

Performance: Significant improvement in sound quality
The HyperX QuadCast S microphone has sound quality that justifies its price, as it provides a frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and a bit rate of 16 bits. It also houses three 14 mm capacitors that allow it to work in four distinct directional patterns.
The HyperX QuadCast S also delivers a significant improvement in sound quality over the $ 50 Razer Seiren Mini and many other gaming headsets.
And we’ve done numerous tests with work video calls, Discord chats, and part-time Twitch streams, with QuadCast S doing an excellent job of maintaining clarity of every spoken word while filtering out background noise.
And if we compare the HyperX QuadCast S and the Razer Seiren Mini, the difference in sound quality is very noticeable, with the QuadCast S picking up the warm tone of my voice while the Seiren Mini struggles to do the same.
One of the great features also is that the gain disk located at the bottom of the QuadCast S is useful on more than one occasion because it allowed me to adjust the microphone sensitivity as desired, in addition to that it prevents the volume levels from constantly rising during different horror games sessions.

Overall, the HyperX QuadCast S is a very good microphone for gamers and podcasts, it has a lively and elegant design and great audio performance.
We had hoped the built-in pop filter was more effective, but when the situation is right, the sound quality is good.
But if you are a broadcast hobbyist looking for a specific style, or if the design is very important to you in general, then this mic will serve you well.
And there aren’t major differences between the HyperX Quadcast S and its predecessor, the HyperX Quadcast, and the original model is more expensive.
