This is MSI GS66 Stealth 15 and this is an engineering sample, so I can’t go too crazy into performance. and the build quality is better than the previous model.
- Wonderful 240 Hz screen
- Solid ingredients all the time
- Good battery life, working environment and connectivity
- Competitors have more CPU power
- Some temperature problems
- Often the 240Hz screen is unnecessary

MSI GS66 Stealth Design
I find this feels a lot more solid to touch, the only thing I don’t like about it, is the materials.
like the front of it, houses these new lights.
these RGB lights which Emma sighs calling aura lights, and they span across the entire front.
but the material they’re using is a very soft plastic, and it just doesn’t match the rest of the laptop.
what they should have done was used a frosted glass or a frosted piece of plastic which i think would blend in with the entire frame.
The entire frame is plastic, i don’t find there to be too much flex on the lid itself, so you can open it up with one hand. and there’s not a lot on the keyboard.
the keyboard is not bad as it’s very comfortable and you can type on it quickly.
but i do find it a bit mushy. the trackpad is made out of plastic, it’s quite small and it’s not as accurate.
this display is 1080p and it’s 15 inches, I will say this though you can spec it anywhere from 144 hertz to 40 hertz or all the way up to 300.
i can’t really talk about colour accuracy because this panel is 69 and it’s not something they’re gonna sell, but I’m assuming it’s just gonna be as good as the one in the MSI GE66.
The screen has excellent quality, the brightness level has a large 324cd / m2, and the 1,246: 1 contrast ratio is amazing to me – great for the IPS panel, and high enough to deliver vibrant visuals.
no sound on this not great to 2 watt speakers on the bottom of the laptop.
they don’t get loud and just don’t sound good, you’re gonna want to use a gaming headset with this.
MSI GS66 Stealth Ports
The port situation is also very interesting, because not only do you have ports on the side of the laptop.
you also had tons on the back, and you know I’d rather have them on the back because it keeps the cables away from you.
you have your power connector which is a 280 watt power supply. you have an HDMI port, barge a 45, USB type-c and this one also acts as a display port, and you also have a mini displayport.
on the right hand side you have your USB port, SD card slot and another USB port.
and the opposite side you have one more USB port, USB type-c and of course your audio jack.
this does not have Thunderbolt 3 but because you can spec this all the way up to an r/t X 20 70 Super
webcam I don’t remember the last time I’ve reviewed a gaming laptop with a 1080p webcam.
so if you’re a streamer or a content creator, you can use this to stream and get pretty decent results.
MSI GS66 Stealth Battery Life
the GS66 crammed in a 99 watt battery, this is huge so I’m hoping to get good battery life with this.
It matters today considering we can’t travel on planes and this is the legal limit.
but the bigger the battery the better for most people.
This laptop provides good battery life, so I personally amaze with battery life
Where in our test run movie, it lasted for a little more than seven hours, and also it was played for four hours and twenty minutes while working.
But unsurprisingly and foreseen, the longevity of the gaming test decreased, as the MSI GS66 Stealth lasted for two hours and six minutes.
as I’d like it to be, so an external mouse is definitely suggested.
This GPU inside of here is beating out most 20/80 max cues that I tested last year.
and in the r-tx 2070 super that i tested before. I’m just expecting this laptop to run nice and fast and to run very cool.
The device comes with the RTX 2060 feature that comes with MSI GS66 with a very good GPU for gaming.
I’ve pressed through our three test games in Ultra settings with frames at 48 fps or more, and in low settings, I played two of these games at speeds exceeding 100 fps.
When the vast majority of e-sports games are less demanding than single player titles, this means that you will easily achieve frames exceeding 200 fps on this laptop, which means you will benefit from a 240 Hz screen.
