Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition
Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition

The Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition is a very powerful device with great capabilities by all standards.

as it has an amazing 4K screen, but unfortunately the price of the features it carries is very expensive.

Just a glance

The is the new Razer blade 15 studio edition, it has the GPU power sitting under the hood.

This is one of the first laptops to mark it with the NVIDIA new RTX quadro 5000 GPU you’ve heard of the GeForce RTX lineup of GPUs.

the thing is that whilst those GPUs can definitely be used for content creation

video editing, photo editing, 3d rendering other graphical professional work. they’re really meant more for gaming.

The Quadro lineup however is sort of the other way around. you can definitely use it for gaming.

but it really wants to help you develop a game more than play one.

Design

this one only comes in one colour mercury white, it’s probably more about silver in my opinion with white keys whatever.

it’s the same colour they’ve used on other models usually to indicate,

it’s less gamer and more professional or something like that.

Another thing about sounding to push further that idea home on this model is the fact that unlike other razer blade 15 models.

we don’t have a light up three headed snake logo on the lid, it’s instead replaced

with the tone-on-tone variety that we’re used to seeing on the new blade stealth models.

you do however still get the option of RGB perky keys, and if you want to stay stealthy about it.

The whole laptop weighs four point eight pounds, so it’s not light,

but is only 0.2 pounds heavier than the GTX 2800 LED model.

We have our 720p webcam that looks good. it’s also windows hello enable,

so you can use your face to sign into the window. Dolby Atmos capable speakers that sound very good.

Display

above the keyboard is our 15-inch 4k OLED touchscreen,

The Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition features a 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160,

which is one of the best monitors we’ve ever tested.

it has a much higher brightness colour and contrast ratio than a normal IPS display, and looks pretty solid.

The display has a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, which is pretty cool for producing accurate colors on their workstations.

Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition Display

The screen also has thin bezels on either side of the screen, so Razer clearly knows it’s the main attraction, and I’ve made sure it’s the laptop’s focal point with ease.

And you can confidently say that the Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition screen

completely explodes the MacBook Pro screen, as it not only excels in performance

but also provides amazing colors and wonderful contrast ratios by all standards.

and by the way it also covers 100% of the DCI p3  colour space for any designers out there who might care.

Ports

four ports on the left we have a proprietary power port that allows you to use the insane 230 watt power adapter to charge the 80 watt hour battery.

next to that we have two USB 3.0 gen2 type-c ports, and a 3.5 millimeter headphone microphone combo jack.

on the right we have our USB type-c port, that is also thunderbolt 3 cable which is good for using superfast media storage.

We have another USB 3.2 gen 2 type of port, an HDMI 2.0 B port, and a mini display 1.4 port as well as a Kensington lock.

There’s also an SD card slot UHS 3 by the way, no more new for me to carry around an SD adapter to pull footage from my camera, just pop it in, it locks into place even and you’re good to go.

Keyboard and Trackpad

The keyboard is still very clicky and it’s great to type on like all the others.

and the razer blade 15 did still keep that rogue write function key that i hate. It’s only this laptop and on other.

he’s unnecessary and it causes you to tap the right arrow instead of the down arrow instead of the right.

Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition Keyboard and touchpad

etc out of muscle memory. not the biggest deal in the world but just it’s annoying.

We have our thankful large glass trackpad that is a Microsoft precious trackpad.

so it’s much more responsive and it can use windows gestures as well.

Battery Life

And we tested battery life, when playing a 1080p video at 50% brightness, the Razer Blade 15 studio release lasted for about 5 hours 28 minutes.

It does not have a long life, but considering the capabilities it carries, battery life is nothing at all, but despite this, the Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition is designed to do more intensive tasks, such as rendering 3D animation, editing 4K videos and even playing games.

Performance

I tested this device, in the same 4k video being rendered out in h.264 YouTube 4k preset on the razer blade 15 studio edition versus the razer blade 15 rtx 28, and a 10 % give or take performance increase.

it makes sense actually considering a lot of this using the cuda cores, and even though the Quadra is twice as much video memory.

it only has a slight edge over the etx 2080 in terms of cuda cores.

The idea here that you only really see a bog performance cap is if either you’re doing something that utilizes a massive amount of VRAM.

so 3d rendering or something else with large graphic file sizes, or if say NVIDIA has a much more optimized quadrille driver than their g-force counterpart.

As is the case with a few more professional apps in a video with lastly for software we have Windows 10 installed and thanks to razors, no bloat policy.

there isn’t any pre-installed, which you can use to control the keyboard colours and other razer devices that are chime enabled as well.

adjust the fan screen, create macros etc, it’s actually kind of useful. there’s a handful of Microsoft flow we’re on here including things like candy crush.

but you can easily right-click it from the start menu and hit uninstall to remove it.

Our Verdict

The Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition is one of the best devices we have ever tested, it perfectly fits those who work in media or games.

It owns the Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition to Intel and Nvidia who are working hard to bring powerful components to mobile devices.

also features a screen with very beautiful and pure colors. It also offers color gamut support at 100% DCI-P3 and the factory calibration means it’s a more enticing purchase for digital creatives.

The only downside is that it is extremely expensive, but considering its components it is well worth the price.
